WordPress Shortcodes For Real Estate Websites

In our article Real Estate Website Design With WordPress, we talked about the fundamentals you need for a successful website launch when using a WordPress website. One of the important tools you’ll use on WordPress websites is shortcodes. If you’re new to using shortcodes, you can get a good introduction to what they are and how they work here.

iHomefinder IDX websites and our Optima Express plugin for WordPress come with special shortcodes for you to use on your real estate website. You really need to explore these since they add a lot of power and flexibility. Throughout your site, you can very quickly add things like search options and listing galleries. You’ll be amazed how easy it is to add this great IDX content exactly where you want on your site without knowing any programming. This is also the best way to enhance pages for SEO since it places dynamic IDX content on a custom page that you control. Since it’s a custom page or blog post, you can control all the attributes you need to optimize the page or post for a certain keyword to attract traffic.

Log in to your website to see your WordPress dashboard and locate “Shortcodes” in the Optima Express menu.

Select Shortcodes to build the shortcode for the IDX feature you want on your site. You will see a window like this:

Once you have created the shortcode you want and entered the parameters, use the “Copy to clipboard” button to copy it to your cache. You can then paste the shortcode into the page or post where you want the IDX feature.

Alternatively, you can use the Shortcode Selector within the WordPress visual editor for pages and posts. Read our Knowledge Base article for details on this technique.
